YGO CotW [3/14/11~3/18/11]
Again, my reviewing will be brutal and straight to the point.
There is also a new format I will be doing these in. I shall select 1 Monster, Spell, and Trap to do my review on. Usually, I will not do meta cards such as Pot of Duality or Solemn Warning. Most of my cards will be good under-rated cards. If you have any suggestions on cards I should review, please let me know either by private message or a YGO CotW thread.
With that being said, on with the show!

Monster
- Spoiler:
Spirit Reaper
As far as monster cards go, nobody should question me why this card is the card of the week. It's virtually indestructible with a chance to diminish your opponent's hand.
The first part of it's effect isn't really an effect at all. More like a self-destruct button. Is a self-destruct button in your evil lair (as seen on T.V. or games) a good idea? No, not really. This is one of the card's two set backs. The other set-back being that it's attack is a low 300. When you attack though, you don't do it for the damage. You just treat the damage as a nice bonus for a free discard from your opponent, and as we all know or should know, hand advantage matters in this game. What are you going to start doing when you have no hand? Top decking and hoping for the best. Not too many combos can get set off in that manner. This makes Spirit Reaper well worth the trouble of his simple attack and bogus destruct button. Other then that button, he's virtually indestructible!
Want to hear more good news you probably already know?!?! He's at TWO this format. Throw him all over your decks. He's virtually indestructible! Place him in there and annoy your opponents! Or simply admire him in your hand because you don't want him to hit the field and die (since you love him so much). Did I mention it's virtually indestructible? This card has earned it's spot in this weeks CotD, and I give it a

Spell

Forbidden Lance
Simply underestimated. This card is most assuredly a good choice for a spell tech card. You will most likely use it on your own monster in order to prevent it from being destroyed or sent back to your hand (virtually anything). Why would you want to waste this card on your opponents monster? I don't care if it's effected by spells or traps... But it does loose 800 attack right? Wrong. You should care that it's effected by spells and traps. And yes, they do lose 800 attack.
Opponent flips Gravekeeper's Spy and special summons. You, being an upset individual, let it all slide and eventually it becomes your turn. You attack, they attempt to Book of Moon their Spy. This card denies them that privilege. Besides, you do 800 more damage and prevent their new monster from coming to the field. Helps to limit the re-use of FLIP: effect monsters and pseudo-flip effect monsters. Prevents bottomless from doing things to your monster and the like. Really a good save-your-ass card.
I also believe it is worth mentioning that it is a QUICK-PLAY SPELL! Do you know what that means? Spell Speed 2 and usable on your opponents turn... Yeah, I'll take it. Quick-play spells, in my opinion, are an overlooked and very important aspect of this game. All they do is something that any good card should do. Opens up doors instead of closing them, it gives you more options then you previously had. All that being said, this card easily deserves an

Trap
- Spoiler:
Compulsory Evacuation Device
Are we being serious right now? This card is under-played and a staple in some of the decks I use. Some people think the sole purpose of this card is to aggravate your opponent, and they're right! Think about it... If your opponent is happy, are you usually? Not unless there's that creepy "I"M ALWAYS HAPPY" smile going on in their face and yours.
This card is a trap, and just a normal trap at this. It's effect is simple, and does one thing. It does not require a law book to decipher (a lot of cards do) and it couldn't be easier to explain everything about this card. You activate it like you would any other trap card, and return a monster (yes, you get to pick) to return to the owner's hand. It doesn't have to be your opponent's monster. Want to re-use an effect that only goes off when summoned (Caius?), then do it. Want to save your monster from an attack? Then send your opponents monster from whence it came. Annoying Syncrho in your way and yet you have nothing to stop it? Don't destroy it! Just return it. That Stardust is useless at this point.
So is there a downside to this card? No, not really. It doesn't permanently solve the problem unless the synchro can not be re-summoned because of lack-of-tuners or you have a morphing jar or card destruction or something like that (or a spirit reaper attack eh?). I wouldn't use it carelessly, but I would use it. It's an amazing card that does so many different things and gives you options. The only things that can stop it are cards like Solemn Judgment and the like. Forbidden Lance is also a card that stops this strategy. However, those cards will most likely be saved for a more dire time (say a dark hole or monster reborn?). Easily this card deserves the score of
